140 MPs sign letter in defense of longstanding Windrush generation

A letter sent to Downing Street has prompted a u-turn on its position regarding how the status of the Windrush generation is dealt with.

The letter written by David Lammy, Labour MP, has been signed by 140 MPs, including 2 out of the 3 MPs from Brent; Dawn Butler (Brent Central), Tulip Sadiq (Hampstead and Kiln) but the letter was not signed by Barry Gardiner (Brent North).

For the Windrush generation this is a sensitive moment, and will be remembered as an unpleasant period, with more tragic stories to be unraveled from those that have already been deported. Let’s hope following this action from both the public and MPs (all parties coming together), it will ensure a proper and fair system is put in place. For those Windrushers that have been deported, the exact number should be made public and justice should see that they are returned to what they once referred to as the motherland.
